Upload and categorize permit documents

Categorize each document so the precheck checklist can match it. Files are stored privately, scoped to your organization.

Pick a project first

Documents are scoped to a project so the precheck inventory check can match what you uploaded against what the project type expects.

Choose the right category

Common categories include site plan, floor plan, elevations, structural calcs, application form, and owner authorization. Categorization is what lets PermitOS detect missing items.

Storage

Files are stored in a private organization-scoped bucket. Only members of your workspace can access them. PermitOS does not publish your packet.

Sensitive documents

Avoid uploading documents containing Social Security numbers, payment data, or other unrelated PII. The Sensitive Document notice on the Documents page explains the policy.

Document extraction

Automated text/plan extraction is not configured by default. PermitOS uses your file metadata and category for checklist matching only — it does not read the contents of plan sheets unless an extraction backend is enabled.
